Blizzard Beach

Walt Disney World is one of the biggest attractions Orlando Florida has to offer. And Blizzard Beach is a water park in Walt Disney World, which is a one of a kind combination of a hill and a water recreational spot. It is the third water park after River Country and Typhoon Lagoon. The park's theme is based on a 'Disney legend' of a freak snowstorm in the area, which led to the construction of Florida's first ski resort. The snow didn't last long though and left behind waterlogged and snow-less ski jumps. The resort was set for closing when people saw an alligator sliding down a flume and into a pool of water while screaming 'yahoo!'. Thus the resort was ski resort was reborn as a water park with the 'Ice Gator' as a mascot.

A majority of the attractions sit atop Mount Gushmore, a 90 foot artificial hill.

The Green Slope contains single track water slides and can be accessed by foot or chairlift at the top of Mount Gushmore. It also contains Summit Plummet, the marquee attraction this side of Disney World, which is the world's biggest and fastest free-fall body slide (measured at an astonishing 120 feet tall). It also containts attractions like Teamboat Springs, which is the world's longest 'family white water raft ride' and the 250 feet long Slush Gusher.

The Purple Slope on the other hand contains the Downhill Double Dipper, which is the world's only side-by-side racing slides. It also contains Snow Stormers, a mat slide which consists of three flumes, 350 feet long and Toboggan Racers, an eight lane 250 foot slide next to it.

The Red Slope only features one attraction, Runoff Rapids which is a 600 foot inner tube. Guests go down twisting on corrugated steel pipes, in truly awesome fashion.

The ground level has even more attractions for you to enjoy! And to think that these are just a few of the many attractions that Disney World has to offer is a wonderful and awe-inspiring sight indeed.
