Chicago A Great Place to Live

Chicago is one of the cities in the United States that houses a lot of communities. Chicago Community is basically divided into seventy-seven areas as of today. During the late 1920, there were only seventy-five community areas defined by the University of Chicago, which are basically also known as the neighborhoods in Chicago. It added another one in the year 1950 with the city annexation of its more popular airport, the Chicago O'Hare of ORD. In 1980, another one was added by separating the Edgewater from the Uptown making it seventy-seven and there were no changes ever since. Compared to the olden time, characteristics of the Community Chicago today is no longer dependent on the neighborhood that comprises it. One popular nomenclature used by Chicago Catholic residents though is by referring to their community area according to the parish that they belong to.

Chicago Schools are basically divided into two, the public and the private schools. To date there is an estimated six hundred eighty public schools in Chicago while the number of private schools would be three hundred and ninety-four. CPS or Chicago Public Schools is the governing body of a school district that controls around six hundred public elementary and high schools in the city of Chicago, including some selective-admission magnet schools. This district holds one of the largest annual enrollments in the history of United States. Some schools under CPS would be newly constructed; others gothic, and a few are deteriorating due to lack of attention. In the district, certain schools have boundaries like attendance boundaries.

Elementary, middle or secondary students outside of a specific residential area would not be able to enroll to a certain school. Therefore, most students should be enrolled to the school that is registered within the residential area that they belong to, though attendance boundary may vary from one school to another. Walt Disney Magnet School, which is a school that focuses on the performing arts and supports the gifted program for children, is one of the magnet schools that the Chicago Public Schools supports. On the other hand, certain parishes run private schools Chicago, Illinois. For example, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago runs the Roman Catholic schools, the preparatory schools of Jesuit, the Loyola Academy, and the Saint Ignatius Preparatory School.

Included in the most popular private schools in Chicago would be the Chicago Day school in Lake view, the Latin School, Ida Crown Jewish Academy in West Rogers park, the Frances W. Parker located in the neighborhood of the Lincoln Park, and the one located in Hyde park which is the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. The existence of a good number of private schools in Chicago is one of the features that this city has to offer. The private schools that were mentioned are one of the country's private schools that have an excellent reputation. Some private schools offer the Montessori way of teaching that enhances independence for children from primary to the 8th grade. Some schools also limit their number of enrollees on a given year due to their principle that small schools provide large opportunities for children. With this type of concept, teachers of this type of school will be able to use a more personalized technique of teaching due to the limited number of students that they handle.
